Back & White Photo of Hotel Lion showing a two story building with a corner doorway with a circular sign above the door on top of building and another square sign on left hand side and a rectangle sign on right hand side all with letters: HOTEL LION. Building has an overhang built above ground floor with 15 posts. There is a sidewalk around building, looks like wood. There is a telephone post by a tree (bare as in winter) directly in front. You can see 14 windows on top floor. On the left hand side, at the end of the building is a sign that says: TOBACCO In pencil marks on left hand top is written "Rio Grande Hotel" You can see a line in the picture showing where the building had been added on to. The main portion was Alamosa's first bank in 1890. The building later became the bank of Alamosa, then the Rio Grande Hotel before the Lion Hotel. |
