    The Search for the Central Railroad Route to the Pacific through the San Luis Valley 1853. This encludes the Expeditions of Edward Fitzgerald Beale, John Williams Gunnison and John Charles Fremont. The Railroad would not be completed until after the Civil War using none of the routes suggested by the expeditions.
